An exhibition in the largest and latest National Park Center of Europe
Prize-Winning National Park Worlds - A Hands-on Museum
Who wouldn't like to fly over the valleys of the national park from an eagle’s perspective, crawl into a marmot burrow or look at a stream bed from a pebbles viewpoint? Small and big visitors can do this and much more in the National Park Worlds in Mittersill. The museum is a special kind of indoor-experience and presents the National Hohe Tauern Park fauna and flora with the help of a spectacular exhibition.
Boring museums are out; modern exhibition concepts are the trend. As the Salzburg tourism prize-winning National Park Worlds reflect the spirit of the times which is revealed when viewing the exhibition: Cheering children cuddle with their parents on grass-green hay flower-relaxing loungers. A married couple - still in hiking clothes - disappears with 3D-glassess into the cinema hall, in order to watch the film about the emergence of the “Tauern Window”. The legend resounds from the mystical legend cave in the rock about little Venetian men “Venedigermandl”.
Dive into an Alpine Adventure World with Eight Stations
A visit in the National Park Worlds – a unique 1,800 m ² sized Alpine Adventure World - gets under your skin: The Hohe Tauern National Park with the highest peaks in Austria and its inhabitants such as the ibexes, chamois and snow mouse seem almost near enough to touch. Eight stations wait to be explored: Entertaining, on one’s own and at one’s own pace. Film teams flew 120 hours with a helicopter over the national park valleys for the Eagle’s Flight Panorama: At the push of a button visitors can select their preferred choice “Adlerflug” (eagle’s flight). In the world of Marmots & Co. it is especially fun: Besides a spectacular film which take you through all of the seasons, a large marmot burrow arouses the children’s interest most of all. The Treasure Chamber with precious minerals, 3D-cinema and legend cave continues into the Mountain Forest Gallery. Photos, audio samples and relaxing-loungers await visitors in the Alm Summer, while the Wild Water presents the abundance of streams, mountain lakes, bogs and waterfalls. The Avalanche Dome is a 270-degree-cinema box with magnificent recordings of an avalanche and the Krimmler Waterfalls. At the conclusion, the Glacier World emulates a real ice block, the Paster-zen-time wheel and exciting information about glacial ice. To regain your strength, continue on to the affectionately furnished Almaa restaurant with many Pinzgau specialties on the menu card.
