Amusement Park Lochmühle

For more than 40 years, the amusement park Lochmühle has been a place of popular resort in the Rhine-Main area. Located in “Taunus”, the park was originally used as a mill and played an important role in local farming. The rural and informal atmosphere of the park, that was used as a riding arena until the 70ies, has been successfully preserved. In the course of time, additional attractions such as sports facilities and ponds turned into a varied amusement park. Apart from having a good time, contact with nature and the indigenous animals is still important. The connection with life and work in the country is also emphasized by the tractor track railway built in 2004. It leads through a carefully laid out path providing visitors with information on agriculture. Ponies still play an important role – not only because of the mascot “Polo” whose name consists of “Po” as in “pony” and “lo” like “Lochmühle”. With a ride on one of the Shetland ponies, you always back the right horse. The modern technical facilities have not diminished the attractiveness of the natural surroundings in the least: meadows invite you to romp about, and the zoo is full of native animals waiting for visitors to play with them. If you are lucky, you might even watch chicks hatch in the animal nursery. There are numerous places all over the park which invite also larger groups for a barbecue and a good time – just give notice in advance and you can use the facilities for free.
