Tierpark Gettorf – exotic animal life right on the doorstep of Kiel

For more than 40 years, Tierpark Gettorf has been home to about 900 animals from all over the world. Especially a good deal of our next relatives can be visited at Tierpark Gettorf: about 15 family groups of various monkeys can be seen here, regularly caring for their offspring. Other exotic animals can be found here as well: zebras, antilopes, tapirs and wallabies inhabit the outside exhibits, in the tropical halls, a colorful mixture of parrots and other birds compete with the vast amount of carefully tended flowerbeds.
In the walkthrough exhibits you can come quite close to our animals. Furthermore, every day you may also accompany our keeper on his feeding tour and even assist him with some animals.
For our youngest visitors the most comfortable place certainly is the petting zoo with cute goats and pleasant sheep. A lot of playgrounds top off an amusing and entertaining visit at Tierpark Gettorf. In our restaurant you will find ideal dishes for either the small or the big appetite. If you prefer self-catering you can use our picnic areas or the barbecue grill.
In the course of the year, you can attend a lot of different events at Tierpark Gettorf and you can even celebrate your birthday with us!

A singular experience in Schleswig-Holstein is the „Mad House“ inside the Tierpark. It seems to be a rather normal detached house, but for the fact, that everything is topsy-turvy. All furniture and other facilities as toilet bowl, dining table or kitchen row are attached to the ceiling. All rooms are lovingly decorated, so you get the impression its residents have just left the room. Furthermore, the entire house is slightly slanted, which additionally baffles the perception of its visitors. A really unique experience! The house is accessible through a turnstile directly from the park against an additional charge.
